Abstract
In the process management system ADEPT2, the system core itself is implemented in Java and a multitude of applications should be executed. To support the execution of these applications, the system core must be isolated from the various invocation aspects in the application. The isolation is done by means of execution environments that wrap around Java methods, web services and EJB’s. To Support .NET components as well as other windows-base applications, a .NET execution environment is to be integrated into the system. The aim of this thesis is providing a conceptual design and a demonstration of a prototypical implementation of the .NET execution environment. The concept of the execution environment is built on creating a communication bridge between the Java environment of ADEPT2 and the .NET environment of the executed components. Thus, after discussing thoroughly the requirements of the execution environment in general and the bridge in particular, various technologies are discussed. After the comparison of the various implementation technologies, the results are used to establish a generic solution for the design. Accordingly, a prototype can be developed.
