Regarding the increasing life expectancy, the number of people that eventually suffer from dementia is increasing significantly. Currently there are limited possibilities for them to live a comfortable life at their familiar homes. Only home visits or nursing homes can ensure this. This poses a problem due to high costs and these people not feeling secure any more. Nowadays with the rise of eHealth and mHealth there are possibilities to help and support these people with technological gear. As the popularity of smart watches and smart phones rises, these devices can simply be used in order to help making life more comfortable. The application aims to support people who suffer from dementia. Multiple ways ensure the everyday support and provide a way for them to stay safe at home by mitigating risks and damages. The user gets adjusted reminders which remind of certain activities. Additionally heart rate and falling detection is being implemented to ensure physical safety. Furthermore live GPS tracking is built in to keep track of the user’s location at all time. These features provide physical and mental safety for the diseased person and makes their life worth living. The bachelor thesis presents a prototype of reMinder - a mHealth application for dementia patients. The only requirement is having a smart watch and smart phone. The application can simply be downloaded from the app store.
