Abstract
In recent years we are witnessing a rising trend of medical applications for smartphones. Many of these applications are not developed in cooperation with medical experts, thus making the effectiveness of these applications questionable. But the use of smartphones in an medical context is inevitable as many studies suggest, the only concern is that the use of smartphones is supervised by medical professionals. In this thesis an Android application for the support in pain therapy has been developed. The developing process involved medical experts, who set the requirements of the application. The application utilizes the TrackYourHealth platform for its basic functionalities. Other functionalities are implemented with the help of a Content API which delivers the content to the Android application and a Web application for content management.
The thesis gives an overview of the whole development process, starting with the requirements engineering phase and all the way to the implementation process.
